The world’s richest individual Elon Musk has teased the cryptocurrency space once again on Twitter, after saying he wouldn’t turn down being paid in Bitcoin.
The Tesla CEO and SpaceX founder has become the world’s richest individual in 2021 as Tesla’s stock prices surged in recent months. Musk’s individual net worth is said to be over $200 bln according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Having overtaken Amazon founder Jeff Bezos on the world’s rich list, Musk gave a typically witty response to a shared link on Twitter:
Musk has also had a chequered relationship with the cryptocurrency community on social media, having trolled the space on numerous occasions. He’s also said to have a small exposure to cryptocurrency, previously stating that he’s in possession of 0.25 BTC that a friend had sent to him a few years ago. At today’s market prices, that’s worth around $10,000.
Wouldn’t turn down being paid in BTC
Replying to a Tweet by renowned author Ben Mezrich, who penned Bringing Down The House and Accidental Billionaires which were adapted in popular films ‘21’ and ‘the social network’, Musk agreed that he wouldn’t turn down being paid in Bitcoin.
Following Musk’s very short response, Mezrich tried to coax the world’s richest man into agreeing to collaborating on a book. Musk replied saying he didn’t have time considering his lofty goals of creating sustainable energy and advancing life outside of Earth’s atmosphere:
