On Sep 24, Ultra, the blockchain-powered entertainment platform, announced a collaboration with Atari, a renowned consumer brand and entertainment producer.
This partnership aims to integrate the eagerly-anticipated Atari video computer system (VCS) into Ultra’s blockchain platform that delivers games digitally.
Ultra is developing a unique entertainment platform that allows gamers to play, discover, buy, compete, and socialize with zero friction. Users can also participate in contests, watch live-streaming feeds, and much more.
As per the press release, Ultra’s gaming platform will now be accessible via the Atari VCS “PC/console hybrid” games and entertainment system, set to launch later this year.
The integration will enhance Ultra’s experience by incorporating fan-favorite Atari games such as Asteroids, Pong, Missile Command, and RollerCoaster Tycoon.
On the other hand, Atari stands to benefit by tapping into Ultra to update many of its most popular titles with new technologies.
Michael Arzt, COO of Atari VCS, was excited about the partnership. He stated:
“We look forward to working closely with Ultra to help make the VCS the most blockchain-friendly gaming and entertainment system and to introduce a huge network of gamers and hardware fans to this amazing new frontier.”
Enabling In-Game Asset Trading of NFTs
Nicolas Gilot, CEO of Ultra, explained that his company’s direct integration within the Atari VCS would empower users to purchase, download, and play PC games from Ultra on the system.
Ultra will also offer in-game asset trading using Atari’s non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Atari Tokens are an ERC20 token based on the ETH network. The tokens run on the Atari Chain are currently undergoing pre-sale rounds, with a public sale expected later this fall.
Gilot added that the strategic move enables his company to showcase its capabilities in platform integration and exploration of NFTs and blockchain tech.
Crypto and gaming enthusiasts on Ultra will now have the unique opportunity to purchase the new Atari VCS system using either Ultra’s in-game tokens (UOS) or Atari Tokens.
Furthermore, users will gain access to a full range of services, such as participation in large scale E-sports contests.
Ultra has been focused on delivering a state-of-the-art experience for gamers worldwide and has already joined forces with software and hardware giants such as Ubisoft and AMD.
Gaming Could Foster Crypto and Blockchain Adoption
Many gaming and crypto enthusiasts believe that gaming and NFTs could usher in widespread and exciting use cases for blockchain tech and cryptocurrencies.
By offering a decentralized platform and a fair distribution scheme, blockchain-powered gaming platforms such as Ultra could arguably foster crypto’s widespread use.
Atari’s adoption of tokens and their integration into Ultra’s next-gen gaming is projected to attract massive interest in the blockchain and crypto sectors.
