At the centre of the Baltic Sea in the northern region of Europe lies Latvia, a country renowned for its wide beaches and dense sprawling forests. With strong trade routes flowing through the mouth of the Daugava river the capital city, Riga, is very much the beating heart of the country.
With a population of just over 630,000, Riga is the largest city in the area with over one third of Latvia’s entire population living here. The wooden and art nouveau architecture combined with old churches and markets in the old town give the city a very medieval style feel.
However, as with anything, looks can be deceiving for behind this ancient exterior Riga is very much a forward thinking and progressive place – most notably with blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.
On the 14th and 15th of September blockchain and crypto fanatics from around the globe will descend onto the RISEBA University in their droves to attend the much anticpated Baltic Honeybadger 2019 conference.
The BH annual conference is one of the world’s leading Bitcoin events and is in its third year now having initially launched in 2017. The creators of the event describe their goal as to “create an educational and community-driven event with high-profile speakers from all around the world and with different backgrounds — from technical engineers and cybersecurity professionals to business owners and bestselling authors.”
According to their website, this event is purely driven by the cypherpunk movement and they will not be “promoting various so called altcoins, ICOs, banks and other blockchain-based “snake oil”.”
With a star studded line up, this conference aims to be one of the most hotly anticipated of the year. Guests such as Max Kieser, Tony Vays, Saifedean Ammous and Jimmy Song are set to grace the stage.

Below is a video summary of the conference from 2018:
