Block.one has released a blog post revealing the specifics behind the closed-door meeting between the company’s executives and the SEC’s representatives.
This follows an earlier post that offered a detailed recap of tasks and challenges the company’s Legal and Compliance team has overcome in their effort to blaze a new trail through the social media world.
In June 2019, Block.one’s publicized that it would soon launch Voice, a long-awaited social media application on the EOS blockchain that would prove to be a game-changer.
Block.one CEO Brendan Blumer stated at the time that the platform’s immutable nature would bring transparency and fairness to social media.
Blockchain-based social media platform Voice is intended to be a significant step in the evolution of social media, bringing with it amenable facets of blockchain technology that would suit a world that is growing more suspicious of traditional social media.
Blumer, recently confirmed via twitter that the technical beta version of Voice would be released on February 14, 2020.
Why Is This Important?
With today’s blog, Block.one demonstrates its understanding of the current social media environment, suggesting that the widely popular platform suffers from the lack of transparency, the overabundance of fake news and dubious accounts.
By developing Voice, Block.one will foster, sharing, discovery and promotion of trustworthy content on social media platforms by real users, not media bots and sham accounts.
Last year brought social media to the limelight in terms of how collected user data is managed. Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s gave congressional testimony in April 2019, where he defended Facebook’s data collection and handling practices.
In these hearings, it became apparent that current social media operators harvest and sell user data without sharing the value that is being created in the process.
The congressional U.S Regulators listened to any serious claims to disrupting and fixing the current social media problems. Now, with the launch of its Voice platform, Block.one is aiming to be the right entity to offer this disruption.
Block.one Positioned To Lead A Social Media Revolution
By adding blockchain infrastructure to social media sites, Voice intends to return control and benefits to its users, thus reinstating trust.
Developed on the EOS Public Blockchain, all exchanges on Voice will be open, creating unprecedented transparency as a core part of the experience, with no hidden algorithms or invisible interests.
