ChromaWay the Underdog of the Blockchain-Gaming Industry as it acquires Antler Interactive


Blockchain-based gaming projects have gained a lot of popularity lately. It sparked a lot of interests among the industry leaders like Microsoft and Ubisoft to start implementing blockchain technology. The gaming industry is the perfect combination of creativity and technology, with the massive potential to develop on this industry, Blockchain technology is finding its place.

Microsoft has been playing a major role in the growth of this sector by making its way into the blockchain industry. They have been involved in multiple blockchain-related projects that focused on gaming. With the likes of Azure blockchain services and  Azure gaming Microsoft is tokenizing collectable badges to spark community interest and building games with companies like Edios. They have also formed partnerships with various blockchain start-ups, further strengthening the blockchain economy.

Besides the big names, there are a number of blockchain companies that are tackling these issues head-on. One such enterprise is Chromaway. The Stockholm-based startup has been working to improve the gaming industry and improve the reach and adoption of decentralized applications (Daaps).

Their gaming unit, Chromia Studios, was launched in August 2019 to launch the first series of games, Chromia Studios is collaborating with Workinman Interactive, an award-winning, US-based market leader.

The first release was designed to be a fast-paced mining game with elements of economics and digital asset ownership dubbed ‘Mines of Dalarnia.’ The game received 6000 signups within no time and was received well by the community.

Chromaway has now taken a bigger leap, as a press-release acquired by The Daily Chain states that Chromaway has acquired the gaming company Antler Interactive. Antler Interactive, formerly known as SVRVIVE, has been known for creating VR titles and is currently focusing on tech and mobile games.

Their gaming title ‘Krystal Kart AR’ released in 2019, made Antler interactive one of the first studios in the world that combines AR and blockchain gaming.

Chromaway CEO Henrik Hjelte, showcased his optimism about the acquisition stating:

“Antler Interactive has continuously been pioneering gaming for new technologies. Partnering with them allows us to expand ChromaWay’s mission to build the underlying framework for a decentralized society. Blockchain gaming is one of the first areas where this will happen, and we are very happy to join forces with Antler Interactive for that cause.”

The company has acquired for an undisclosed amount, but Antler Interactive would still function as a separate company that will assist Chromaway to take blockchain gaming to a whole new level. Antler Interactive CEO, Anna Norrevik said:

“We are extremely happy to be joining Chromaway, as we see a really promising cultural fit and that both companies share a vision to let emerging technologies reach more people. We believe the Chromia platform will allow our games to reach new levels using transparency and open collaboration, while connecting us to the crypto community.”

Recent statistics reveal that the gaming industry is expected to hit $200 billion by 2022 and this could be a prime opportunity for the blockchain industry to explore new possibilities through this revolution. Chromaway is boosting blockchain development in the gaming industry with things like Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), while solving other issues with “traditional” blockchain methods.
