HTC Unleash Their New Blockchain Phone – The HTC Exodus 1s

On Oct 20, 2019, Taiwanese electronics giants HTC unveiled Exodus 1s during the Lightning conference at Berlin.

This launch is a fulfilment of a promise they made in May that they would release a smaller and cheaper Exodus 1 Blockchain HTC version. Exodus 1s is a budget-friendly blockchain mobile phone and the first one of its kind to serve as a full Bitcoin node.

Unique Blockchain Features of Exodus 1s

Users can effectively manage transactions and blocks independently, without the need of a bank, crypto exchange, or any other third party.

The full Bitcoin node feature benefits the Bitcoin network by maintaining a 100% decentralization. It also allows owners to manage their privacy in a better way when transacting with Bitcoin.

Even though the device can technically run a full Bitcoin node, owners need to buy an extra 400GB MicroSD card to attain this feature. That is because the entire Bitcoin blockchain exceeds the phone’s internal storage capacity by approximately 250GB.

What Can Users Do With this New HTC Phone?

Apart from running a full Bitcoin node, Exodus 1s is a comparably capable smartphone with most low to mid-tier phones in the market. When it comes to hardware, it has Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 435 processor with 4GM RAM and a 64GB internal memory. The HTC Exodus 1s also has a 720p, 5.7-inch display, 13 Megapixel primary camera, and fingerprint sensor on the rear.

The Exodus 1s also comes with an already installed HTC’s Zion Wallet. User can effectively manage their cryptocurrencies portfolios as well as send and receive the supported digital assets, and non-fungible tokens.

Growth of Blockchain Devices

According to recent research by MarketsandMarkets (intelligence and market research platform), forecasted that there would be a rise of blockchain devices.

The report indicated that the market of blockchain devices would grow from USD 218 million in 2019 to USD 1.285 billion by 2024, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 42.5% in this period.

This launch by HTC is an absolute indication that MarketsandMarkets predictions could be accurate. The new HTC version comes at 219 Euros (254 USD) or equivalent amount in BTC, ETH, LTC, BNB, or BCH. It will first be availed in Taiwan, Europe, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE market before hitting other markets.
