Justin Sun, the CEO of Tron (TRX), is known to be someone who likes to keep his community hyped up about every progress that Tron makes. Even though this might not be typical ‘CEO’ kind of behaviour, but this strategy has actually helped Sun in building a mega TRX community.
Last month he was seen making an announcement about an announcement on Twitter, where he hinted that Tron was about to be partnering with a “megacorporation” which is valued at $100 billion. It turned out to be just a mere integration of Tron onto the Samsung Blockchain Keystore SDK, v1.2.0. Despite this being a noteworthy achievement, it wasn’t anything close to a “partnership” that Sun implied.
Sun has had to face severe backlash from the community and has even apologized for over marketing. He even apologized at one point when he had postponed the highly publicized lunch with billionaire Warren Buffet. He had then referred to himself as “immature, naïve, and impulsive,” and as having a “big mouth.” He also agreed that it was an “out-of-control and failed over-marketing hype and led to a significant series of unexpected consequences.”
But it looks like Sun isn’t stopping just yet. Just last week, Pornhub, the popular adult website made the headlines after leading American payment processor PayPal, stopped processing payments related to it. This resulted in “over a hundred thousand performers” being deprived of their payment.
While most of the big industry names like Binance CEO, Changpeng Zhao, considered this an opportunity for cryptocurrencies to step in. Sun saw this as an opportunity to appraise Tron and stir up the community. Sun Tweeted:
He, however, did not mention that fact that Tron was just accepted as a payment method for PornHub subscriptions rather than a payment processor for pay-out methods which was the actual matter of concern.
One Twitter user by the name of ‘UDI WERTHEIMER’ went ahead to reveal this. He wrote:
“PayPal blocked PAYOUTS TO models FROM pornhub TRX can only be used to send payments TO pornhub, it CANNOT be used for payouts FROM pornhub. Irrelevant to the PayPal ban, and the challenge models face
Do better @justinsuntron”
He also made claims that PayPal couldn’t be used to send payments to Pornhub. Rather, he went on to say that “PayPal isn’t stupid and porn sites were always banned. Pornhub probably used some loophole to allow payouts FROM Pornhub.”
This entire event was another fine example of Justin Sun showcasing his marketing skills. Do you think this has actually helped Tron?
