The whole world is keeping a close eye on the cryptocurrency industry as Bitcoin (BTC) continues to smash its way past new highs. At the time of writing BTC is standing at $37,341, and it’s nothing odd that several of the world’s biggest influencers are getting involved in this emerging market.
Recently, famous YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, popularly known as “Mr Beast,” has joined hands with privacy-focused crypto-friendly browser Brave, alongside almost 1 million other verified publishers.
With over 50 million subscribers, Mr. Beast is one of the most-watched YouTube channels in the world with over 8.5 billion total views. As a verified Brave browser account holder, Mr. Beast potentially exposed millions of his subscribers to the world of cryptocurrencies.
Mr. Beast’s history with Crypto
However, this isn’t the first time Donaldson is coming into contact with cryptocurrencies. The YouTuber is known to have made significant amounts of profits via his investments in crypto. He had previously discussed cryptocurrencies way before his channel was popular, and reportedly, Donaldson bought a $100,000 car using his profits.
The content related to digital currencies were removed from his channel, which is understandable because of unclear cryptocurrency regulations back then. But the video has been re-uploaded on other channels.
Mr. Beast has also talked about how he almost lost all his BTC on KEEMSTAR’s podcast because of a house break-in, but he managed to move the funds to a different wallet.
On New year’s eve, he also sent out a tweet in response to cryptocurrency influencer Anthony Pompliano, stating that he’d pay $1 million to see Tesla founder Elon Musk talk about Bitcoin on Pompliano’s podcast.
Now, with the entire market in bullish momentum, the Youtuber seems to be coming back to the world of cryptocurrencies by becoming a verified Brave browser publisher. The new collaboration will allow fans of Mr. Beast to tip his channel using the browser’s native Bat token.
The addition of Mr. Beast to Brave’s growing list of publishers has many traders predicting large price increases for the BAT token. As of now, BAT tokens are currently trading for $0.254 each, up 9.5% over the past 24 hours.
Not the first YouTuber
Mr. Beast isn’t the only major Youtuber to have stepped into the world of crypto and blockchain. As previously reported by The Daily Chain, PewDiePie, once the Youtuber with the highest number of subscribers with amounts to more than 100 million, started promoting a Pokemon-style game called Wallem, where he is also selling his in-game “PewDiePie skin” as a non-fungible token (NFT).
