On July 21, 2020, Samsung-backed blockchain provider BLOCKO, inked a deal with the AERGO protocol to source suitable decentralized apps (DApps) for the Samsung Blockchain Service.
AERGO will also support DApps that are already released in the Samsung Blockchain Wallet that are integrated into high-end Galaxy products, including the S10 and S20, as well as the Galaxy Note series.
Among other services, the AERGO protocol will add support to the Mainnet implementation and public blockchain integration of DApps on the Samsung ecosystem. The protocol will also develop the core Samsung blockchain tech, including development and monitoring tools.
These enhancements will be facilitated via the ‘AERGO-based Merkle Bridge technology’, which essentially links multiple public blockchains and allows access to various services that support specific distributed ledgers.
BLOCKO, working closely with AERGO, will offer developers access to list their DApps in millions of Samsung Galaxy devices while providing technical support for numerous DApps on the Samsung blockchain, including authentication, e-contracts, and transactions.
DeFi Incubation and Sourcing for the Samsung Blockchain
Furthermore, the AERGO and BLOCKO’s DApp acceleration efforts will also help bring a wide range of decentralized finance (DeFi) products to the Korean market priced in the more familiar Korean Won (KRW).
This is meant to meet the surging demand for DeFi apps on the Korean market and foster user adoption via Samsung Galaxy devices. The pricing of DApps in KRW will serve to eliminate the barrier to adoption resulting from many DeFi applications being currently priced in US Dollars (USD).
Moreover, the AERGO and BLOCKO’s DApp acceleration effort will bridge suitable DeFi DApps to the ‘Samsung Blockchain Service’ ecosystem, further boosting the adoption of blockchain in Korea and across the globe.
Decentraland and Samsung Blockchain Team Up
In related news, the virtual world of Decentraland announced on July 20 that it is working together with Samsung Blockchain to bring blockchain games and non-fungible tokens (NFT) to a mainstream audience.
Decentraland successfully created a marketplace app that has now been added to the Samsung Blockchain Wallet, allowing millions of Samsung consumers to access the Decentraland world on their phones.
Decentraland is built on the Ethereum blockchain that allows users to buy land and build anything within a virtual world. The app also allows for the storage and trading of NFTs.
Following the announcement of the Samsung partnership, market interest into the Decentraland native MANA token surged as its value pumped 10% to $0.046018.
