Utrust Bring on Ebay and PayPal Exec as CEO

0

Utrust, a cryptocurrency payment solution based in Zug, Switzerland, has announced a change at the top with the hire of Sanja Kon, a former eBay, Paypal and Vodafone executive as the new CEO.

This represents a savvy move by the crypto-focused payments company as it allows them to pull on the wealth of knowledge Kon brings to the table from her days at the major Fintech payment processor PayPal as well as eBay and its online payment work.

The change in leadership is also no accident on behalf of Utrust who have not let the move towards mass adoption of cryptocurrency miss them. All around the globe, cryptocurrencies are being picked up. From governments and the move towards CBDC to increased institutional buy-in for both blockchain and cryptos.

Utrust began in 2017 as a company with the goal of pushing digital currencies to the forefront of people’s payment habits and ensuring universal adoption. This drive is being heavily picked up as products and processes, such as crypto debit cards, permeate the space.

A new era for Utrust

The company was founded in 2017 by entrepreneurs Nuno Correia, Roberto Machado, Filipe Castro and Artur Goulão with Correia making way for Kon after achieving much. Utrust has grown a solid consumer base and is now utilized by giants like S.L.Benfica, Phone House, More From, Alternative Airlines, Luis Onofre and several other merchants.

On the change, Correia said: “The scope of what we’ve accomplished with Utrust in the last few years has been a dream come true as CEO, but it pales in comparison to what we’re going to achieve in the next decade.

“This felt like the exact right moment to shift my focus from daily operations towards planning that future and preparing for a decade in which digital currencies are going to truly enter people’s lives. The fact that Sanja was ready to step in, and knowing that I could leave daily operations of the company in such capable hands, was all the reassurance I needed.”

It was explained that Kon was selected for the role due to a skillset that makes her an ideal candidate for CEO. Kon has helped some of the fastest growing businesses in the market achieve juggernaut status. She has worked as an executive for Paypal, Vodafone and eBay, bringing decades of experience which will transform Utrust’s day-to-day operations.

Kon intends to focus on growth and creating a leadership culture that will allow the company to be ready for the next decade’s challenges. However, the real transformation will be in the scope of what Utrust does in the market.

“I have built my career on helping massive companies achieve their potential. Utrust has the people, the tools and the opportunity to be one of those companies. I know these things when I see them, and that’s why I was thrilled to accept the opportunity of helping this vision become a reality. We will lead the mass adoption of digital currency payments in the next decade,” Kon added.
